Spied: Alfa Romeo 4C Concept

Is this the Alfa 4C concept? Rumours of a new sub-8C sports car, set to be unveiled in Geneva, have reached fever pitch of late - and now a black and white video on Dutch blog site autojunk.nl appears to reveal it in the flesh.

Take a close look at our grainy, monochrome screen grabs and the compact coupe in the foreground is unmistakably an Alfa. The flowing shoulder line and sharp front end are both inspired by the rare 8C Competizione supercar, but the design had been distilled into a more compact coupe bodyshape.

A vent can clearly be seen infront of the rear wheel, hinting at high performance, while the telephone-dial alloys are an Alfa Romeo trademark.

Thought to be called the 4C GTA, it’s likely the newcomer will be powered by a four-cylinder 1750 TBi petrol engine – unlike the 8-cylinder unit in the 8C Competizione – with a total power output of around 260bhp. Acceleration from 0-62mph should take around six seconds.

The real surprise though is the second car lurking in the background. It's clearly a roadster, with no roof in place, plus the front end has a distinct Alfa Romeo look to it with its smooth edges, wide grille and narrow headlights. Could this be a successor to the legendary Alfa Spider?

We'll be able to find out whether this video is real or a hoax, as well as whether a roadster will appear alongside the coupe, on March 1 - when we'll be reporting live from the Geneva Motor Show floor. For more details click here.
