Ralph Lauren designs a wristwatch to match his Bugatti Atlantic

There are plenty of watches out there that try to emulate one car or another, but it takes something truly unique to accompany a car like a Bugatti. For its part, Parmigiani Fleurier has had at it a couple of times with timepieces matched to Molsheim’s latest, but to run with a car as coveted and prized as the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, really only one brand would be up to the task: Ralph Lauren.
Everyone from fashionistas to holiday shoppers know Ralph Lauren as a clothing label, but automotive enthusiasts like ourselves know him as the proud owner of one of the most delectable classic car collections the world has ever known. Once in a while, Mr. Lifshitz (as he’s still known back in The Bronx) puts his two passions together to create something special. Last time it was a luggage collection inspired by Ferrari. This time it’s a watch to go with his ’38 Bugatti.
The latest in Lauren’s Sporting Watch collection is styled after the interior of the Atlantic, with an elm burl wood ring emulating the car’s dashboard, galvanized matte black dial with white Arabic numerals like the Bugatti’s gauges, and visible screws around the case front recalling the rivets along the Atlantic’s spine. The movement is crafted for Ralph Lauren by the Richemont group – the same company that makes Cartier,Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai and IWC, to name just a few – and features a 45-hour power reserve.

60 out of 77 Aston Martin One-77 supercars already sold – at $1.87M each

The One-77 is the rarest of all Aston Martin models, with a grand total of 77 units for the rest of forever (well, assuming they decide against a Volante model). Add in a body that is made with copious amounts of carbon fiber, a 750-horsepower V12 and hand-formed aluminum panels and you’re looking at a price tag of $1.87 million. If you’re thinking that that’s more money than you’re likely to make in the next lifetime, we’re on the same wavelength, but not everyone is tuned to the same frequency.

Inside Line reports that fully 60 of the 77 One-77s are already spoken for, leaving only 17 copies of the ultra-mega rare English exotic up for grabs. And what One-77 owner doesn’t want a mini-Aston for when driving their $1.89 million supercar is just too big for the country club? IL claims that many One-77 buyers are opting to spend the extra $30,000 for the Toyota IQ-based Cygnet. Hey, $30,000 may be a lot of coin for a gussied-up Toyota, but then again, the Cygnet likely isn’t the only $30,000 option available in Aston’s catalog – and it drives all by itself.

2011 Chrysler 300 photos hit the web

Our friends at Kicking Tires stumbled upon a series of teaser images from Chrysler showing off the revised-for-2011 Chrysler 300 sedan. Yes, our intrepid spy shooters have already offered up some pretty darn good photos of the car as it was being shot for marketing purposes, but it’s always good to focus in on details like the new corporate-style grille, headlamps, taillamps and the sleek new winged Chrysler logo.
From what we can see, the next Chrysler 300 will continue the brand’s march to the top of the upscale American sedan ladder that it first ascended way back in 2004 as a 2005 model. Yes, it’s been that long since the boxy, gangsta-style machine hit the market – “due for an update” would be a serious understatement.
Expect the 2011 300 to come equipped with both the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and be available with either standard rear-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive. We’re counting on a full debut at the2011 Detroit Auto Show in January, but in the meantime, feel free to peruse the image gallery below.
