New Car; 2010 Daihatsu Mira Cocoa

You've heard of automakers targeting specific segments like younger hipsters, affluent retirees, or even dog lovers. But how about blatantly devising a vehicle for a certain gender? Well, Japanese automaker Daihatsu has done just that, launching its women-specific Mira Cocoa "mini passenger vehicle" in its domestic market.

Indeed, it is cute, and a few of our female MT staffers agree. Officials say its "easy-to-love" styling and "rich color" options will definitely attract female buyers "who pursue a fun and laidback lifestyle."

They say it's easy to use, safe (with plenty of airbags and ABS brakes), capacious, and fuel efficient. Under its stubby hood resides a KF-VE engine making 57 hp and 48 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed through either a four-speed automatic or CVT gearbox, and can be sent to all four wheels, or just two.

MSRPs begin at around $10,550 for base models.
