Toyota has launched its ‘Q’ World programme, a two day event where the Japanese giant will showcase its latest Etios concept and their entire Indian portfolio. Starting from Mumbai, Toyota will take the two day event to 10 cities to ensure maximum visibility of their new products.
After unveiling its ‘World First, India First’ Etios concept at the Auto Expo in January, Toyota showcased the sedan and hatchback version of the Etios at MMRDA grounds in Bandra. As per the company officials, the preparation to launch the Etios is running as per the schedule. The sedan version with 2 variants will be launched in the last quarter of this year and it will be followed by the hatchback, three months later.
Toyota’s second plant that will manufacture the Etios is half way under construction and it will have a capacity of manufacturing 70,000 units annually, with an increased in capacity to 2,00,000 units.
Production of the Etios will start by December 2010 but the company is yet to take a decision on its launch. “It could be launched in December 2010 or by early 2011”, said Mr. Sandeep Singh, deputy MD, Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
